Steve Slevinski, BS Mathematics
Steve Slevinski is a data manager and application developer at the University of Iowa, where he supports neuroimaging and multi-site research projects through the design and maintenance of data workflows for collection, validation, transformation, and delivery. His work includes managing submissions to national repositories such as the National Institute of Mental Health Data Archive and supporting research teams in ensuring data quality, consistency, and compliance across complex studies.
He specializes in building automated and reproducible systems using Python, SQL, and API-based integrations, including REDCap and Globus, to streamline data access, migration, and reporting. His work emphasizes reliability, transparency, and scalability, enabling researchers to focus on scientific outcomes while maintaining strong data governance practices.
In addition to his work in biomedical research, Steve serves as Chief Technical Officer for the Center for Sutton Movement Writing, where he leads technical strategy and development for an international initiative spanning dozens of countries. His work there includes designing data formats, building web-based tools and APIs, and managing distributed systems supporting large-scale linguistic datasets.
Across his roles, he works closely with researchers, clinicians, and technical teams to translate operational needs into practical systems, emphasizing clear communication, maintainable design, and long-term sustainability of research infrastructure.
